The Story
Back in 2018, I was hustling, working for Lyft and doing landscaping jobs. After taking nearly two years off from an industry I deeply love, God had something truly special in store for me and my family Mami Coco!
I never imagined how much it would change my life. It wasn’t easy at first; I struggled and faced moments of self-doubt. But with my wife by my side, urging me to believe in myself, and God guiding me back to this path, I persevered. Little did I know, good news was on the horizon. With the help of my incredible team and the unwavering support of my wife and family, things began to turn around.
Thanks to God and everyone who believed in us, this journey became possible. In 2018 and 2019, people were loving us online. When 2020 brought uncertainty to the world, God never left my side, and we managed to finish the year strong and productive. The recognition kept coming: Telemundo, Yelp (where we maintained 4 1/2 stars for four years), ranked #76 in all of Texas in 2021, and features in the Dallas Morning News, Dallas Advocate, and Dallas Observer in 2022. Today, I’m thrilled to share that Mami Coco has made Yelp’s list of the top 10 taco shops in the entire United States!
I’m truly humbled and grateful. First and foremost, I thank God. To all our customers and friends, thank you for allowing us to delight you with our food. As we embark on this new adventure, we’re excited to introduce Mami Coco 2, located at 2706 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75223.

14 Best Restaurants in Dallas #2 MAMI COCO Oh, Mami Coco. This place is the definition of a hidden gem, a true hole in the wall and one of the best restaurants in Dallas. It is located in an odd part of town, the type of place you’ll drive past daily and never notice. But when you take your first bite of their street tacos filled with barbacoa or steak, you’ll suddenly be tempted to stop a couple times a week. Mami Coco isn’t trying to re-invent the street taco wheel – just two corn tortillas filled with your protein of choice, diced white onions, and plenty of chopped cilantro. Simple, yes, but when executed correctly, these tacos are divine. Take things up a notch with the “spicy” and “not that spicy” salsas – ask for both and mix and match to your heart’s desire. Mami Coco has other tasty items on the menu but trust that the tacos are the crowning jewel. Prices are a bit higher compared to other street tacos but Mami Coco tacos are 100% worth it.
